Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools is seeking a middle school assistant coach to guide student athletes in fundamental skills, academics, and leadership. The role emphasizes safety, positive coaching, and collaboration with the head coach to develop program goals and daily practice plans.

Applicants must meet WIAA age requirements and have at least a high school diploma with sport-specific coaching/playing experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of sport-specific coaching/playing experience in a secondary or post-secondary setting.
• Experience presenting drills, safety factors, and proper skill application.

Responsibilities

• Supervise participants from report to dismissal.
• Reinforce eligibility rules and district policies.
• Ensure safety, proper equipment use and facility care.
• Attend meetings at various levels (building, district, league).
• Develop program goals with head coach before the season.
• Complete accident reports within 24 hours of injuries.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

One year of sport-specific playing and/or coaching experience in a secondary and/or post‑secondary athletics program

Proven training and experience in drills, safety factors, and proper skill application
