Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools is seeking a dedicated High School Assistant Coach to support the head coach in developing student athletes. The role emphasizes fundamental skills, safety, leadership, and academic achievement, with a focus on character and teamwork.

The assistant coach will attend practices and contests, model professional behavior, and help implement sport-specific drills while adhering to WIAA rules and district policies. Evening and weekend hours are common.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior sport-specific playing and/or coaching experience in a secondary and/or post-secondary athletics program and/or related club coaching experience.
• Proven training and experience in the presentation of drills, safety factors, and proper application of skills.

Responsibilities

• Professional Development and Leadership: stay current with sport-specific literature and attend clinics/workshops.
• Responsibility for Rules and Regulations: study rules of WIAA, district and league; ensure eligibility.
• Program Promotion: promote sport within school and community; report scores and information promptly.
• Program Organization: attend practices/contests daily; implement system of play as directed by head coach.
• Standard of Care: model safety training and basic athletic training knowledge; perform first aid as needed.
