Job summary

School City of Hammond is seeking a middle school head coach to organize and direct athletic activities in alignment with district policies. The role requires enforcing IHSAA rules, planning events, maintaining rosters, and coordinating with the athletic director on eligibility and equipment.

You will foster leadership, sportsmanship, and physical development while ensuring safety through coordinated activity schedules.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for all matters relating to organization and administration of the team.
• Enforce all rules of the High School Athletic Association related to the sport.
• Assist in planning events such as assemblies, night events, homecoming, banquets.
• Maintain an accurate squad roster and submit copies to athletic director.
• Develop program by stressing fundamentals and participation over won-lost records.
• Coordinate with the school to ensure exams, insurance, and equipment conditions are met.
• Assign coaches to supervise the squad and locker room.
• Prepare equipment/supply requests and arrange for team awards.
• Work with the Sports Coordinator on player eligibility and equipment disposition.
• Develop plans for issuing/receiving equipment and maintain proper relations with parents and media.
• Attend meetings and professional development as approved.
