Job summary

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of the sport being taught.
• Thorough understanding of participants’ needs (physical, mental, emotional).
• Ability to teach fundamentals of the sport.
• Desirable character and personality traits.
• High moral standards.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with pupils, parents, staff, and administration.
• Knowledge of applicable rules and regulations for the instructor’s responsibilities.
• Available to supervise activities beyond the school day.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible to the building principal and the athletic director for planning, coordinating and directing assigned athletic activities.
• Establish objectives and develop an implementation plan for the program.
• Develop the athletic program with emphasis on participation and friendly competition.
• Coordinate athletic activities with the school program to avoid conflicts.
• Provide vigorous activities to develop physique and cardiovascular fitness.
• Foster leadership and citizenship through sportsmanship.
• Promote self-expression, confidence, and discipline through physical activity.
• Know and follow applicable rules and policies from authorities.
• Assist with budgeting, equipment, transportation, and scheduling for the program.
