Qualifications

• Be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with pupils, parents, faculty, and staff.
• Have a thorough knowledge of general education gained through preparation and experience.
• Be thoroughly familiar with physical education and athletic administration practices.
• Know the rules and regulations governing school athletics.
• Be available beyond the school day for activities.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible to the school principal
• Establish objectives for the program and develop a plan for implementation and evaluation
• Coordinate physical education and extracurricular activities with the school program
• Serve as athletic equipment manager and conduct staff meetings
• Plan efficient ordering, purchasing, and receiving of equipment
• Supervise operation of the school's physical education and athletic program
• Foster intra-faculty relationships among PE staff and others
• Delegate responsibilities to coaches for practice time, supervision, and equipment
• Ensure compliance with School Board policies and IHSAA/conference rules
• Attend workshops and in-service meetings for professional growth
• Manage player eligibility, transportation, budgets, schedules and related matters
• Assist in organizing cheerleading and booster groups
• Maintain proper conduct at athletic contests
• Crowd control during contests and public relations activities
• Collaborate with teachers and coaches on dress codes and appearance of athletes
• Handle equipment records and inventory; manage journals and correspondence
• Develop forms for tracking equipment and budgets; manage losses or damages
• Work with coaches to budget equipment needs and procure training staff
• Maintain facilities appearance and storage areas; manage towels and related items
• Develop student manager training programs and medical supply storage
• Ensure proper care of supplies by staff and athletes
