Job summary

Easton-Redding-Region 9 School Districts is seeking a Special Education Teacher Long Term Substitute for the Helen Keller Middle School BASES Program in Easton. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support students with academic, communication, social, and behavioral needs, and coordinate IEP goals with teachers and families.

You will lead a team of paraeducators, conduct testing, adapt curriculum, and ensure services are implemented across settings while engaging in ongoing

Qualifications

• CT teaching certification in Special Education K-12 (165)
• Experience with students with Autism and developmental delays
• Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
• Experience with Discrete Trial Instruction (DTI) preferred
• Experience with early intervention, ages 3-6 preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Flexible, creative, and strong organizational skills
• Highly motivated and self-directed

Responsibilities

• Collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team to support students with academic, communication, socialization, and behavioral challenges in the BASES Program
• Collaborate with preschool and kindergarten teachers to maximize benefits from non-disabled peers
• Provide case management including development, implementation, and monitoring of IEP goals and objectives; coordinate with general education teachers; lead team meetings
• Collect and manage data for IEP goals and Behavior Intervention Plans
• Ensure accommodations and modifications are implemented in appropriate settings
• Conduct standardized testing and review/update IEP goals and objectives
• Adapt and modify curriculum materials and instructional approaches
• Implement and monitor behavior support and incentive plans
• Communicate regularly with families
• Lead a team of paraeducators and behavior technicians
• Participate in PPTs and meetings to present testing results and progress information
• Serve as a resource to general education staff for diverse learners
• Participate in professional development and department meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned
