Job summary

Easton, Redding, and Region 9 School Districts seek a Special Education Teacher Long Term Substitute for the Helen Keller Middle School BASES program in Easton. The teacher will support students with academic, communication, social, and behavioral challenges in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.

The role requires CT certification in Special Education K-12 and experience with autism, ABA, and early intervention.

Qualifications

• CT teaching certification in Special Education K-12 (165) is required.
• Experience with students with Autism and developmental delays is preferred.
• Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis and Discrete Trial Instruction is preferred.
• Experience with early intervention, ages 3-6, is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Candidate should be flexible, creative and well organized.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to support BASES students with academic, communication, social and behavioral needs.
• Work with preschool and kindergarten teachers to integrate students with non-disabled peers.
• Provide case management, develop and monitor IEP goals, and lead team meetings.
• Collect and manage data for IEP goals and Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Ensure accommodations and modifications are implemented in appropriate settings.
• Conduct standardized testing and review/update IEP goals accordingly.
• Adapt curriculum materials and instructional approaches as needed.
• Implement and monitor behavior support and incentive plans.
• Communicate regularly with families and lead paraeducators.

Job Description

Qualifications:

• Work collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary team to support students with academic, communication, socialization, and behavioral challenges who receive special education services in the BASES Program


• Collaborate closely with preschool and kindergarten teachers to ensure that students benefit from their time with non-disabled peers


• Provide case management, including development, implementation, and monitoring of IEP goals and objectives; collaborate with general education teachers; lead team meetings


• Collect and manage data pertaining to IEP goals and objectives and Behavior Intervention Plans


• Ensure that all related services, accommodations, and modifications are being implemented in the appropriate settings


• Conduct standardized testing and use this information to review and revise current IEP goals and objectives


• Adapt and modify curriculum materials and instructional approaches


• Implement and monitor behavior support and incentive plans for assigned students


• Communicate regularly with families


• Lead a team of paraeducators and behavior technicians


• Participate in PPTs and other meetings for assigned students and come prepared to present testing results and up-to-date information on progress toward goals and objectives


• Serve as a resource to the general education staff in regards to working with a diverse learner population


• Participate in professional development and other meetings with the special education department and school-wide faculty


• Other duties as assigned
