Qualifications

• Associates Degree or two years of college or passing the para test.
• Knowledge and understanding of various disabilities.
• Knowledge of school classroom procedures, including preparation and maintenance of records.
• Knowledge of special education procedures and IEPs.
• Provide support (accommodations & modifications) to students with academic tasks.
• Support students with social, communication and/or ADL skills including assisting with toileting as needed.
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the Middle School level.
• Experience working with age-appropriate students in a school setting.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the principal, special education coordinator, and Director of Student Services.

Responsibilities

• Work with Middle School children, both in general education classrooms and the special education classrooms to support students academically, socially, emotionally, and/or physically.
• Assist with preparation and maintenance of records and classroom procedures.
• Provide accommodations & modifications to students as needed.
• Support social, communication and/or ADL skills including assisting with toileting as needed.
• Collaborate with teachers and be a positive team member to support students.
