Job summary

Chelmsford Public Schools - McCarthy Middle School in Chelmsford, Massachusetts is hiring a Paraeducator for the 2026-2027 school year. The vacancy supports students in general education and special education classrooms to enhance academic, social, emotional, and physical development.

The ideal candidate will have an Associates Degree or two years of college, knowledge of various disabilities, and experience working with middle school students. Citizenship or work authorization required.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or two years of college or passing the para test.
• Knowledge and understanding of various disabilities.
• Knowledge of school classroom procedure, including preparation and maintenance of records.
• Knowledge of special education procedures and IEPs.
• Provide support (accommodations & modifications) to students with academic tasks.
• Knowledge of school classroom procedure, including preparation and maintenance of records.
• Support students with social, communication and/or ADL skills including assisting with toileting as needed.
• Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities at the Middle School level.
• Experience working with age-appropriate students in a school setting.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable by the principal, special education coordinator, and Director of Student Services.
• Successful candidate will have a positive attitude and must work well as a member of a team.
• Ability to build relationships with students and colleagues and provide ongoing support and direction to students.
• Ability to work as a team and collaborate.
