Job summary

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Norton, MA to maintain heavy-duty vehicles with state-of-the-art diagnostics and tools. The role offers weekly pay, a third shift (11:00 pm – 7:30 am) and a Sunday-Thursday schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification post secondary degree or technical certifications preferred.
• Basic tools, required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work).
• Two years or more of classroom training and work experience preferred.
• Valid CDL CLASS A, preferred.
• This position requires obtaining CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, and Ryder road test.
• Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle check for last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance and inspections.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable.
• Identifies root causes and performs repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of the complaint.
• Utilizes Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Complies with safety, DOT, and MOT guidelines.
• Performs other support duties to assist operations.
