Job summary

Ryder in Harrisonburg, Virginia is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician to maintain and repair heavy-duty vehicles on the second shift. You will use state-of-the-art diagnostics and tools to complete preventive maintenance and repairs, with weekly pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma (or equivalent) and vocational/technical certification, plus basic tools and a CDL type A (or able to obtain CDL within 6 months).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or technical certification post-secondary degree or certs preferred.
• Basic tools, required.
• Experience with mechanical repair of automotive diesel engines including routine preventive maintenance.
• Two years or more of related training or work experience preferred.
• CDL Class A preferred; ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools.
• Identifies root cause of failures and performs repairs.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of the issue.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Complies with safety and DOT requirements.
