Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is offering Graduate Student Internships within the MESA SIGMA Institute. Interns will explore microsystems integrating electronics, MEMS, sensors, photonics, and quantum components, mentored by Sandia scientists and engineers.

Participants gain hands-on research experience, technical seminars, and facility tours to broaden exposure across engineering disciplines. The program emphasizes career development and collaboration on national security projects.

Qualifications

• Earned bachelor's degree
• Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
• Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
• U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, asylees or refugees in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Engage with multiple scientific disciplines to produce functional, robust microsystems.
• Work with scientists, engineers, and researchers on advanced microsystems concepts including MEMS and quantum components.
• Participate in technical seminars and facility tours to understand Sandia's breadth of engineering disciplines.
• Develop skills through mentorship from the MESA community and collaborative projects.
• Prepare for a rewarding career path through exposure to national security applications.
