Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a R&D undergraduate year-round intern for the Counter-Autonomy & Intrusion Detection group. You will assist on autonomy, machine learning, and sensor integration projects related to national security and physical security.

Hybrid onsite/offsite work with mentorship and opportunities to develop experiments, software, and technical communication. Qualifications include enrolled full-time undergrad in a science/engineering/math major, GPA 3.0+, up to 25 h/w

Qualifications

• Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program.
• Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
• Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
• Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Assist with a broad range of national security challenges in physical security of nuclear materials and critical infrastructure.
• Support software development for data processing, analysis, visualization, and algorithm evaluation.
• Collect, label, and analyze experimental or simulated data.
• Develop and evaluate machine learning or signal-processing methods for detection, classification, tracking.
• Assist with hardware/software integration for sensors, embedded devices, data acquisition systems.
• Document technical work and communicate results through presentations and reports.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across software, electrical, mechanical engineering, and data science.
