Job summary

MERIEUX NUTRISCIENCES is seeking a Microbiology Technician for the Crete, IL laboratory. You will prepare samples, track client/sample IDs, and perform growth-based analyses using plates, agar, and incubators. Strong attention to detail and basic LIMS knowledge are required.

The role requires HS Diploma with 1+ year relevant work experience. Evening and weekend availability is needed, with full-time hours and comprehensive benefits. Training will cover safety and proper lab procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have time management and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail is essential for accurate testing procedures and results.
• Analytical skills are required to complete analysis and determine microorganism concentration.
• Basic knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is needed to process client data.
• Basic computer skills are useful for entering data and results and maintaining records.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sample for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
• Label plates with identification to track client and sample numbers.
• Pipette sample solution into tubes or plates as per analysis process.
• Pour agar into plates or tubes to initiate growth.
• Incubate plates or tubes at specified time and temperature.
• Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing as required.
• Ensure media and materials are prepared for the next testing sequence.
• Maintain awareness of LIMS to complete duties.
• Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis.
• Read plates and tubes to determine organism counts.
• Support quality and continuous improvement processes.
• Maintain housekeeping and sanitize work areas and equipment.
• Participate in cleaning schedules and retain samples.
