Job Title: Microbiology Technician

Job Summary: Prepare samples for analytical and microbiological testing of food products, ingredients, and environmental samples. Apply approved microbiological techniques and methodologies used in analytical testing.

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare samples for indicator organisms, pathogens, and chemistries.
  2. Apply aseptic techniques in daily workload.
  3. Maintain media and reagents for microbiological testing.
  4. Inventory and report supplies needed for testing.
  5. Perform routine preventive maintenance and sanitation.
  6. Monitor quality control, including incubator temperatures and media controls.
  7. Follow processes and procedures in accordance with policies and customer requirements.
  8. Maintain laboratory conditions, including equipment, supplies, and records.
  9. Perform activities safely, neatly, and efficiently.
  10. Share information openly and timely.
  11. Assist in managing priorities to achieve team goals.
  12. Ensure safety for oneself and others.
  13. Complete required training.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. High School diploma or GED.
  2. Associate degree in Life Science or two years of laboratory experience preferred.
  3. Knowledge of food testing laboratory practices.
  4. Ability to travel is preferred.
  5. Equivalent education and experience accepted.
Physical Demands:
  1. Dexterity for handling equipment and communication devices.
  2. Potential exposure to odors, chemicals, and pathogens.
  3. Variable noise and temperature conditions.
  4. Team-oriented tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  6. Color vision and depth perception.
