Responsibilities
  1. The Microbiology Medical Technologist Lead, working under the supervision of a Medical Technologist or Supervisor, performs and interprets microbiological cultures, stains, and diagnostic assays on blood, body fluid, and other clinical specimens submitted for testing.
  2. Assist the leadership staff with validations, regulatory compliance, quality control review, quality assurance activities, and maintenance monitoring.
  3. Serve as a subject matter expert in the assigned laboratory section.
  4. Set up and perform a variety of routine and/or complex laboratory tests and procedures.
  5. Understand and carry out the specimens rejection policy to ensure specimen integrity.
  6. Perform technical review and interpretation, review results for completeness, correctness, and consistency within the defined test system, evaluate test results/reactions, and provide accurate interpretations.
  7. Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • NYS Medical Technologist license required.
  • BS degree in Medical Technology or related science required.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Strong writing skills.
