Job summary

Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist I – Microbiology for night shifts. The role involves performing complex tests on blood, body fluids, and tissues to aid diagnosis and treatment. You will identify microorganisms, cross-match blood, and prepare cells for cellular therapies.

Shift is Sunday-Thursday 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. with a $2.50/hour night differential; benefits include a robust rewards program and tuition discounts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent substitution for certified MLS/MT
• If not certified, must be eligible for ASCP/AMT or equivalent and certified within 18 months

Responsibilities

• Perform complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues
• Identify bacteria, parasites and other microorganisms; analyze chemical content of fluids
• Cross match blood for transfusion and organ transplantation; prepare cells for cellular therapies
