Job summary

Quest Diagnostics in Erie, PA is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist I (Microbiology) to join the team on the evening shift. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for training within a Fortune 500 diagnostic leader.

Responsibilities include specimen handling, testing, reporting, and adherence to CLIA/HIPAA guidelines; prior high-complexity experience is preferred. The role requires a BS in Medical Technology or related field.

Qualifications

• BS in Medical Technology or a related science preferred.
• One year of clinical experience in high complexity testing is preferred.
• BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; or an AS in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology may be acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and safety guidelines as described in their guidelines.
• Follow established policies and procedures when test systems are not within acceptable performance levels.
• Identify problems that may affect test performance or reporting and notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
