Job summary

Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading, PA is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician for night shift duties.

You will perform complex testing on blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues under supervision and in compliance with FDA, CAP, OSHA, CLIA, and Joint Commission guidelines. Qualifications include an Associate degree or military laboratory training; eligibility for ASCP/AMT board certification and MLT certification within 18 months.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution OR be a high school graduate or equivalent and have completed a military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks and held the Military Enlisted Occupational Specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician).
• Must be eligible for ASCP, AMT or equivalent board certification exam and must be Medical Laboratory Technician certified within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex laboratory tests on blood, body fluids, cells, and tissues in accordance with policies and regulations.
• Test results are used in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
