UW Medicine invites applications for a Health Services Manager in the Microbiology Laboratory at the Renton Central Lab. The role provides technical and administrative leadership, guiding day-to-day operations, staffing, and strategy to meet performance metrics.

Responsibilities include budget management, staff development, and ensuring compliance with CAP and regulatory standards while collaborating with clinical and research units.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or related field is required.
• ASCP or equivalent certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist, or equivalent.
• Six years of progressive clinical technologist experience with at least 3 years in leadership/supervisory roles.
• Experience with wet bench procedures, instrumentation, quality management/assurance, CAP proficiency, and accreditation guidelines.
• Experience managing labs, budgets, and staff to meet goals.
• Knowledge of laboratory regulations and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical and administrative management and leadership to the Microbiology Laboratory.
• Sets goals, plans strategies, and drives process improvements to meet demands.
• Oversees budgeting, staffing, and collaboration with clinical and research units.
• Ensures compliance with CAP, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
• Manages staff training, competency, and professional development.
