Avera Health, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, is seeking a Laboratory position in the microbiology department. You will assist with microbiology culture set-ups, waived kit testing, and molecular assays, working alongside technical staff to ensure accurate testing and timely results.

The role includes specimen collection procedures, specimen transport, processing, data entry, and adherence to regulatory standards. Shift: Afternoon; 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm, Monday–Friday, no weekends.

Mansioni

• Collects blood and other specimens from patients according to established standards and procedures.
• Labels, transports or stores collected specimens as directed in an accurate and timely manner following Lean Principles as determined by Standard Work Document.
• Processes laboratory specimens including centrifuging, separating, measuring, storing and distributing to testing areas or for transport to reference laboratories.
• Performs patient registration and test order data entry.
• Identifies and resolves routine specimen acceptability and test order problems.
• Interprets inpatient and outpatient orders to determine collection times and specimen types.
• Performs some point-of-care testing according to standards and procedures.
• Maintains records and ensures equipment and supplies are available and organized.
