Job summary

University of Michigan seeks a full-time Research Laboratory Technician to manage the CT Core Lab in the Biodiversity Imaging Facility. You will operate a Nikon XT H 225 ST micro-CT scanner, handle fluid and dry specimens, train users, coordinate the scanning schedule, and provide quotes and final bills for core services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher and experience with museum specimens, operating a micro-CT scanner, CT data management, and 3D visualizations or analysis of comparative anatomy and morphology.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the micro-CT scanner (65%): calibration/startup, maintenance liaison, scan acquisition IT needs, prepare specimens, manage CT data repositories.
  • Manage CT Core lab usage, scheduling, quotes, billing, and user engagement (15%).
  • Train and coordinate new users (15%): onboarding, training sessions, and development of training materials.
