Job summary

ClearVista Behavioral Hospital in Lorain, OH seeks a Mental Health Technician (MHT) to provide compassionate, structured care on the night shift. You will perform safety rounds, assist with group activities, and work with RNs during crises to maintain a therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities include admissions support, vitals, and handoffs to evening/night teams, with emphasis on teamwork and consistent communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; STNA/EMT experience preferred.
• Age 21+, ability to stand/walk for long periods and assist with lifts/transfers.
• Empathy, consistency, and clear communication essential.

• Perform frequent safety rounds, observations, and 1:1s; document behaviors and interventions.
• Lead or assist with groups: coping skills, grounding, recreation, and ADLs support.
• Partner with RNs during crises using verbal de-escalation and team protocols.
• Support admissions/intakes: belongings inventory, vitals, and unit orientation.
• Maintain a therapeutic, tidy environment and uphold visitor policies.
• Coordinate with rounding providers and daytime teams to move care plans.
• Support safe discharges and smooth handoffs to night teams.

How You Will Make a Difference
