Job summary

SunriseVista Behavioral Hospital in Canton, OH is seeking a Mental Health Technician to support a calm, therapeutic milieu on the night shift (3x12s). You will assist with safety rounds, observations, 1:1s, and group activities to promote patients' progress.

You will collaborate with RNs during crises, assist admissions, maintain a clean unit, and coordinate handoffs to the night team, ensuring smooth transitions.

Qualifications

• Perform frequent safety rounds, observations, and 1:1s as assigned; document behaviors and interventions.
• Lead or assist with groups: coping skills, grounding, recreation, and ADLs support.
• Partner with RNs during crises using verbal de‑escalation, redirection, and team response protocols.
• Support admissions/intakes: belongings inventory, vitals, and orientation to the unit.
• Maintain a therapeutic, tidy environment and uphold visitor policies.
• Coordinate with rounding providers and daytime interdisciplinary teams to keep care plans moving.
• Support safe discharges and smooth handoffs to evening/night teams.

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma/GED required ; some college or STNA/EMT experience preferred.
