Job summary

Duke Health Perinatal Cary in Cary, NC seeks a MFM SONOGRAPHER to perform diagnostic OB/GYN ultrasound examinations and assist in invasive procedures, maintaining patient safety and effective communication with the care team.

Typical duties include image acquisition, fetal wellbeing assessment, and ongoing equipment maintenance. The role supports teaching opportunities for residents and fellows within a collaborative, research-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification.
• Must obtain ARDMS OB/GYN certification within 18 months of employment.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical OB/GYN ultrasound examinations including basic and detailed anatomy sonograms and fetal wellbeing assessments independently.
• Assist physicians in invasive procedures such as amniocentesis and CVS procedures.
• Assist physicians in saline infusion sonography.
• Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
• Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to differentiate normal from pathologic findings.
• Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the physician.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort and communicate effectively with the patient and health care team.
• Assist with daily operations and in teaching ultrasound technology to residents and fellows.
