Job summary

Duke Health Cary is seeking a Sonographer to operate ultrasound equipment and perform diagnostic examinations across abdominal, vascular, OB-GYN, small parts, and interventional procedures. The role requires ARDMS certification within 18 months of hire and may involve Level I–III experience depending on modality.

You will maintain equipment, document exams, train students, coordinate with staff, and contribute to accreditation efforts.

Qualifications

• Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic ultrasound examinations across abdominal, vascular, small parts, ob-gyn, infant head/hip/spine, and interventional procedures.
• Follows established departmental policy and uses sonographic skills to identify and adapt procedures.
• Analyzes sonograms, communicates findings to the Radiologist, and ensures patient safety and comfort.
• Maintains equipment, supplies, and exam tracking/billing; supports daily ultrasound operations.
• Assists with training of ultrasound students; teaches and provides direction to staff and physicians.
• Coordinates with health care team to ensure patient care is provided; reports equipment failures; participates in lab accreditation maintenance.
