Job summary

Bombardier is seeking a Metrology Technician in Wichita to calibrate, test, and document aircraft-related instrumentation. You will perform close tolerance calibrations, troubleshoot specialized equipment, and conduct functional tests on experimental electronics and electrical-mechanical systems.

Responsibilities include data entry for calibration databases, photography for flight-test documentation, and inventory control of lab gear and batteries, with adherence to ITAR and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in applied science or electronics (or equivalent military experience) preferred.
  • US citizen or permanent resident per ITAR.
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical and electronics operating principles.
  • Knowledge of electronic test and measurement equipment.
  • Computer skills for word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentations.
  • Technical writing to document test results.
  • Knowledge of calibration methodology and metrology standards.
  • Knowledge of testing methodology and test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, data recorders).

Responsibilities

  • Perform close tolerance calibrations, troubleshooting and repair of specialized instrumentation, including pressure, force loads, temperature/humidity, and fluid/pneumatic flow.
  • Perform close tolerance calibrations, troubleshooting and repair of general-purpose test equipment (oscilloscopes, counters, generators).
  • Conduct functional tests of experimental electronics and electrical-mechanical instrumentation components.
  • Perform data entry for calibration database and generate recall reports.
  • Conduct functional tests of experimental electronics or electrical-mechanical instrumentation components.
  • Perform digital and film photography, including development, editing, conversion, and archiving for flight-test documentation.
  • Maintain inventory and control of lab equipment, supplies and explosives.
  • Perform conditioning, maintenance, and repair of aircraft batteries with inventory control and documentation.

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Perform close tolerance calibrations, troubleshooting and repair of specialized instrumentation. This includes pressure, force loads, static/dynamic acceleration rate, temperature/humidity, and both liquid and pneumatic flow.
  • Perform close tolerance calibrations, troubleshooting and repair of general-purpose test equipment. This includes oscilloscopes, frequency counters, and signal generators.
  • Conduct functional tests of experimental electronics and electrical-mechanical instrumentation components.
  • Perform data entry for calibration database and generate recall reports
  • Conduct functional tests of experimental electronics or electrical-mechanical instrumentation components
  • Perform digital and film photography. This includes film development, digital editing, format / digital conversion, reproduction, and archiving to document flight-testing activities of aircraft.
  • Maintain inventory and control of lab equipment, supplies and explosives
  • Perform conditioning, maintenance, and repair of aircraft batteries. This includes inventory control and documentation in support of experimental flight test aircraft.
How to thrive in this role?
  • Per US ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) requirements, must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card holder)
  • Associate’s degree in applied science or electronics (or equivalent military experience) is preferred
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical and electronics operating and troubleshooting principles.
  • Knowledge of electronic test and measurement equipment
  • Computer skills to operate word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation applications.
  • Technical writing skills to document test results
  • Knowledge of calibration methodology, metrology standards and equipment.
  • Knowledge of testing methodology and test equipment. For example, sample rates, scaling and settings, digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and data recorders.
  • Knowledge of software / hardware components and multiple platforms necessary to build, configure, and repair computer systems.
