Job summary

Bombardier US Aerostructures seeks a Job Methods Engineer with 1–3 years in Metrology or related areas. You will analyze GD&T, coordinate tooling and metrology activities, and drive measurement-driven improvements. Proficiency with Spatial Analyzer and strong Excel skills are expected.

You will document best practices, support test plans and capability assessments, and collaborate with management and customers to deliver precise inspection solutions and efficient processes.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and understanding of tooling concepts and estimates.
  • Experience with metrology equipment (laser trackers, portable arms, laser radar) and measurement software.
  • Proficient in Excel with strong data collection and statistics skills.
  • Develop and document best practices to support process improvements.
  • Analyze models, GD&T intent, and laser inspection results to solve manufacturing challenges.
  • Manage daily metrology workflows to boost efficiency and utilization.
  • Assist with test plans, capability assessments, and new inspection tech.

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and understanding of tool design concepts, estimates, and span times.
  • Experience with metrology equipment, such as laser trackers, portable arms, and laser radar, and measurement software, preferably Spatial Analyzer.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with strong data collection and statistical skills.
  • Develop and document best practices to support manufacturing technology process improvements.
  • Analyze engineering models, GD&T intent, and laser inspection results while solving complex manufacturing challenges.
  • Manage daily metrology workflows to enhance efficiency and resource utilization.
  • Perform precision measurements using portable metrology systems and maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Assist with test plans, capability assessments, and the introduction of innovative inspection technologies.
How to thrive in this role? Skills, knowledge & experience:
  • You must have at minimum 1-3 years of experience in Metrology, Methods, Material Planning, or related area.
  • You must have Knowledge of Project Management principles.
  • You must have a broad knowledge and understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • You must be able to coordinate, control and maintain tooling-related activities and metrology activities.
  • You must have an understanding of tool design concepts, tool design estimates and turnaround times.
  • Knowledge: Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts.
  • Problem Solving: Work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.
  • Impact: Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into the final product.
  • Liaison: Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects. Acts as advisor to management and customers providing technical assistance to obtain the desired results.
  • Project Management: Focuses on planning and organizing a project and its resources. This includes identifying and managing the lifecycle to be used, applying it to the user-centered design process, formulating the project team, and efficiently guiding the team through all phases until project completion.
