Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Wichita, KS, is seeking an aerospace/avio craft engineer to join the Flight Sciences team. You will analyze ground and flight test data, perform desktop simulations, and provide timely results to support snag resolutions and post-flight reviews.

Candidates should have 2+ years in aviation engineering, familiarity with flight dynamics, and programming skills in Python/MATLAB/C/C++. A US citizenship or permanent resident status is required.

Qualifications

  • You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or a related engineering field.
  • You have at least 2 years of experience in engineering within the aviation industry.
  • You are familiar with aircraft flight dynamics, aircraft performance, and fluid dynamics.
  • You have a basic knowledge of aircraft systems, takeoff/landing, and mission performance.
  • You understand FAA & EASA Part 25 certification requirements.
  • You possess good programming skills in Python, VBA, MATLAB, C#, C++, or FORTRAN; Windows/UNIX knowledge is a plus.
  • You can work both independently and in a team with good written and oral communication.
  • US citizen or permanent resident status is required.

Responsibilities

  • Be a member of the Flight Sciences team at Bombardier Flight Test Center specializing in Aircraft Performance.
  • Perform analysis of ground and flight test data including desktop simulation.
  • Provide timely analysis of predicted results, post flight data analysis, support snag resolution, generate problem reports, and perform data reviews.
  • Use engineering judgment to select methods, techniques and tools for resolving complex issues.
  • Provide technical support to Flight Operations during briefs, telemetry, and Safety of Flight reviews.
  • Create flight test reports demonstrating compliance with TC/FAA/EASA certification regulations.
  • Support Bombardier projects through Test Readiness Reviews.

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Be a member of the Flight Sciences team at Bombardier Flight Test Center specializing in Aircraft Performance
  • Perform analysis of ground and flight test data including desktop simulation
  • Provide timely analysis of predicted results, post flight data analysis, support snag resolution, generate problem reports, and perform data reviews
  • Use engineering judgment on selecting the appropriate methods, techniques and tools in resolving complex issues
  • Provide technical support to Flight Operations by attending pre and post flight briefs, telemetry, Safety of Flight reviews and Test Hazard Assessments
  • Author/Review Request for Test, Test Definition Sheets, Restriction and Special Instructions, and Conformity reports to support the flight test schedule.
  • Create flight test reports demonstrating compliance as required by TC/FAA/EASA certification regulations
  • Provide technical support to BFTC Projects Test Readiness Reviews
How to thrive in this role?
  • You hold a bachelor’s or master's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or a related engineering field
  • You have at least 2 years of experience in engineering within the aviation industry
  • You are familiar with concepts in aircraft flight dynamics, aircraft performance, and fluid dynamics
  • You have a basic knowledge of aircraft systems or principles
  • You have a basic knowledge of aircraft takeoff, landing, and mission performance
  • You have an awareness of FAA & EASA Part 25 certification requirements
  • You possess good programming skills in Python, VBA, MATLAB, C#, C++, or FORTRAN. Working knowledge of a Windows and UNIX operating system environment would be an asset
  • You are proficient in MS Office and Windows environment
  • You possess good interpersonal skills to work well in a team environment
  • You can work independently and demonstrate initiatives to achieve the goals established
  • You possess good written and oral communication skills
  • You are resourceful in identifying roadblocks and looking for creative ways to overcome challenges, and can maintain adherence to project deadlines
  • Previous experience of supporting aircraft ground or flight testing is an asset
  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident
