Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Wichita, Kansas, seeks a Metrology Technician to support flight-test programs. You will perform close tolerance calibrations, troubleshoot instrumentation, and document results to maintain data integrity.

Requirements include an Associate’s degree in applied science or electronics, US citizenship or permanent residency per ITAR, and strong knowledge of measurement equipment and calibration methods. Proficiency in IT tools for data entry and reporting is expected.

Qualifications

• Requires US citizenship or permanent resident per ITAR.
• Associate’s degree in applied science or electronics (or equivalent military experience) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of electro-mechanical/electronics principles.
• Experience with electronic test and measurement equipment.
• Proficient with standard IT software for documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Perform close tolerance calibrations and troubleshoot specialized instrumentation.
• Calibrate general-purpose test equipment (oscilloscopes, counters, signal generators).
• Conduct functional tests of experimental electronics and electrical-mechanical components.
• Enter calibration data and generate recall reports to support flight-test activities.
• Maintain inventory and control of lab equipment, supplies and explosives.

What are your contributions to the team?

• Perform close tolerance calibrations, troubleshooting and repair of specialized instrumentation. This includes pressure, force loads, static/dynamic acceleration rate, temperature/humidity, and both liquid and pneumatic flow.
• Perform close tolerance calibrations, troubleshooting and repair of general-purpose test equipment. This includes oscilloscopes, frequency counters, and signal generators.
• Conduct functional tests of experimental electronics and electrical-mechanical instrumentation components.
• Perform data entry for calibration database and generate recall reports
• Conduct functional tests of experimental electronics or electrical-mechanical instrumentation components
• Perform digital and film photography. This includes film development, digital editing, format / digital conversion, reproduction, and archiving to document flight-testing activities of aircraft.
• Maintain inventory and control of lab equipment, supplies and explosives
• Perform conditioning, maintenance, and repair of aircraft batteries. This includes inventory control and documentation in support of experimental flight test aircraft.

How to thrive in this role?

• Per US ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) requirements, must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card holder)
• Associate’s degree in applied science or electronics (or equivalent military experience) is preferred
• Knowledge of electro-mechanical and electronics operating and troubleshooting principles.
• Knowledge of electronic test and measurement equipment
• Computer skills to operate word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation applications.
• Technical writing skills to document test results
• Knowledge of calibration methodology, metrology standards and equipment.
• Knowledge of testing methodology and test equipment. For example, sample rates, scaling and settings, digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and data recorders.
• Knowledge of software / hardware components and multiple platforms necessary to build, configure, and repair computer systems.
