Job summary

Divergent is seeking a Lead Metrology Inspector to drive inspection excellence across the organization. You will perform advanced metrology work, lead the inspection team, and ensure compliance with engineering specifications through hands-on leadership and mentoring.

The role requires experience in high-precision environments, strong GD&T skills, and the ability to oversee 2nd shift activities with a collaborative mindset. Position is based in a dynamic manufacturing setting in California.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years in a Quality Inspection or Metrology role in aerospace, automotive, or high-precision production.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate scanning equipment for extended periods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced inspection and metrology work using scanners and 3D software.
• Deliver accurate inspection files, data, and reports to meet engineering requirements.
• Lead by example through hands-on inspection (at least 50% of shift).
• Provide clear shift handoffs with written and verbal updates.
• Prioritize and delegate daily tasks to balance team capacity.
• Conduct spot checks, provide feedback, and uphold high-quality standards.
• Mentor and train peers, including onboarding of new inspectors.
• Maintain situational awareness of progress, equipment status and team needs.
• Foster a collaborative, emotionally intelligent team culture.
• Ensure the Metrology Lab remains clean, organized, and safe.
