Job summary

Core & Main is seeking a Meter Specialist for Iowa to blend technical metering knowledge with strong customer engagement. You will support utilities, contractors, and municipalities with AMI/AMR systems, meters, network infrastructure, and data platforms to improve operational visibility and efficiency.

This hands-on role combines office-based support with fieldwork, including installations, troubleshooting, and customer training, influencing infrastructure modernization and end-to-end metering

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of experience in metering, utilities, technical sales, or related infrastructure technology.
• Experience with AMI, AMR, or smart metering technologies is a strong plus.
• Willingness to work in both office and field environments.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical expert for metering solutions, supporting customers and internal teams with product knowledge and guidance.
• Partner with utilities and contractors to deliver end-to-end metering solutions (meters, AMI/AMR, data management).
• Troubleshoot system issues, optimize performance, and assist with new technologies in the field.
• Lead product demonstrations, training sessions, and presentations for customers and operations teams.
• Collaborate with sales to drive a consultative, long-term customer-value approach.
• Develop new business opportunities while expanding relationships with existing accounts.
• Assist with system installations, configurations, and commissioning of metering and data technologies.
• Stay current on industry trends like smart water tech and data automation.
