Job summary

AEP Service Corporation is seeking an experienced Meter Technician to install, test, and maintain self-contained electric meters energized up to 240 volts. You will work in both shop and customer sites, reading meters for cycle billing and performing required programing and maintenance tasks.

The role requires hands-on experience with metering systems, substations, and electrical maintenance, plus a valid state driver license and any required medical certification.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electrical/electronic technology or equivalent with four years of experience.
• Background in substation, metering, instrumentation, controls, power systems or electrical maintenance with hands-on testing and troubleshooting.
• State Driver License and medical certification as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Read meters for field orders and cycle billing.
• Install, remove, disconnect, reconnect meters.
• Test single phase, network and polyphase meters for operation and accuracy.
• Program meters and manage related qualifications.
• Handle credit/collections orders including disconnects for non-payment.
• Investigate irregular usage and energy diversion.
• Repair meters, sockets, and enclosures.
• Order, receive, ship, and inventory meters and equipment.
• Generate reports on power quality issues and related events.
• Work from ladders and elevated platforms.
