Job summary

American Electric Power Co. in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Meter Electrician C to install and maintain all types of meters and metering infrastructure across shop, stations, switchyards, plants, and customer sites.

The role requires relocation to within 45 minutes of the John W. Vaughan Ctr Mtr, with training within 24 months and a state driver license. The position includes shifting and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in electrical/electronic technology or military/technical equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver License and a medical certification if required by law.
• Within 24 months of employment complete the company's training and qualification program.

Responsibilities

• Read meters for field orders and cycle billing.
• Install, remove, disconnect, and reconnect meters.
• Test single phase, network, and polyphase self-contained meters.
• Program meters.
• Handle disconnections/reconnections for non-payment.
• Investigate irregular usage and energy diversion.
• Repair meters, sockets, and enclosures.
• Order, receive, ship, and inventory meter equipment.
• Work from ladders and elevated platforms.
