The role involves providing failure analysis laboratory processes for a variety of mechanical and materials components, with both in-house and field responsibilities. The candidate will document samples, prepare metallographic specimens, perform testing and analyses (e.g., hardness, optical emission spectroscopy, electrical testing, and pressure testing) and assist with maintenance of lab

Qualifications

• Post secondary education with courses relating to failure analysis, metallography, mechanical testing and analysis procedures and equipment.
• Familiarity with metallographic laboratory equipment.
• Knowledge of industrial safety practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Documentation of samples submitted to the laboratory and during testing (photography, sketches, data in tables/spreadsheets).
• Laboratory preparation for failure analysis, including metallography, testing, and documentation; may include hardness, microhardness, spectroscopy, electrical testing, pressure testing.
• Operate and maintain cutting/sectioning saws, grit blasting, hand and power tools; conduct in-house and field work as needed.
• Perform other related duties as required.
