Job summary

Acuren is seeking a Metallurgical Technician to support operations in West Boylston, MA. The role involves performing failure analysis laboratory processes for a variety of mechanical and materials components, including metallographic preparation and testing, data recording, and documentation.

Responsibilities include sample preparation, maintaining safety practices, and operating equipment such as hardness testers, spectrometry and other laboratory tools, with both in-house and field work as

Qualifications

• Post high school education with courses relating to failure analysis, metallography, mechanical testing and analysis procedures and equipment
• Familiarity with metallographic laboratory equipment
• Knowledge of industrial safety practices and procedures
• Excellent communication skills
• Computer proficiency

Responsibilities

• Responsible for documentation of samples submitted to the laboratory and during laboratory testing which can include photography, hand sketches, recording data in tables, worksheets and/or spreadsheets.
• Responsible for laboratory preparation processes relating to failure analysis of a variety of mechanical or materials including metallographic preparation and documentation, interpretations, and testing. May include testing such as hardness and microhardness, optical emissions spectrometry, electrical testing, pressure testing. Includes in-house and field operation work with multiple sample types.
• May also include operations and maintenance of the following: cutting/sectioning saws and cut off wheels, grit blasting, and use of hand and power tools.
• Performs other related duties as required
