Job summary

Acuren in West Boylston, MA is seeking a Metallurgical Technician to support failure analysis laboratory operations. The role involves preparing specimens, documenting data, and assisting with metallographic procedures for various mechanical and materials components.

The technician will perform testing such as hardness measurements, microhardness, optical emissions spectroscopy, and related analytical work, in-house and in the field. Strong communication and safety awareness are required.

Qualifications

• Post-high school education with courses in failure analysis and metallography.
• Familiarity with metallographic laboratory equipment.
• Knowledge of industrial safety practices.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Document samples submitted to the laboratory and during testing.
• Prepare samples for failure analysis, including metallographic prep and testing.
• Operate cutting/grinding tools, grit blasting, and hand/power tools.
• Perform other related duties as required.
