Job summary

Acuren in West Boylston, MA is seeking a Metallurgical Technician to support failure analysis laboratory operations. The role involves preparing specimens, documenting data, and assisting with metallographic procedures for various mechanical and materials components.

The technician will perform testing such as hardness measurements, microhardness, optical emissions spectroscopy, and related analytical work, in-house and in the field. Strong communication and safety awareness are required.

Qualifications

• Post-high school education with courses in failure analysis and metallography.
• Familiarity with metallographic laboratory equipment.
• Knowledge of industrial safety practices.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Computer proficiency.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

Acuren is seeking a Metallurgical Technician to support operations in West Boylston, MA.

A challenging and rewarding career opportunity exists for Metallurgical Technician to provide failure analysis laboratory processes for a variety of mechanical and materials components.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for documentation of samples submitted to the laboratory and during laboratory testing which can include photography, hand sketches, recording data in tables, worksheets and/or spreadsheets.
• Responsible for laboratory preparation processes relating to failure analysis of a variety of mechanical or materials including metallographic preparation and documentation, interpretations, and testing. May include testing such as hardness and microhardness, optical emissions spectrometry, electrical testing, pressure testing. Includes in-house and field operation work with multiple sample types.
• May also include operations and maintenance of the following: cutting/sectioning saws and cut off wheels, grit blasting, and use of hand and power tools.
• Performs other related duties as required
