Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. invites talented undergraduates to join our 2027 Summer Internship in Metallurgical Engineering across site locations in Arizona and other North American sites.

The program runs May through August and offers full-time, paid work with mentorship and real project exposure. Qualified students or recent grads pursuing Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering, with strong data analysis and communication skills, are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year university pursuing a degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Recent graduate (within 12 months) with a degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Highly accurate and detail oriented; strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates initiative, organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure.
• Demonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing technical support and advice in metallurgical/chemical testing and analysis at assigned site.
• Assists in reviewing new or enhanced metallurgical testing equipment or protocols.
• Assists in metallurgical studies and conducts analyses.
• Prepares standard reports on metallurgical or process issues and assists in recommending actions.
• Assists in evaluating and administering contracts with vendors for services and equipment.
