Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan offers an internship for current full-time electrical engineering students or recent graduates. The role supports engineering projects across our sites in Arizona and other North American locations, under general supervision.

You will gain hands-on experience in maintenance, process control, and automation systems, with exposure to regulatory aspects and safety requirements. The program runs May–August and may sponsor visa-related needs where applicable.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year university pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field; OR
• Recent graduate (within 12 months) with a degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Highly accurate and detail oriented.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates initiative, organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure.
• Demonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Support Maintenance Division, Process Control, and Automation related systems.
• Assist in the review, investigation and development of appropriate recommendations regarding electrical engineering projects.
• Interact with internal and external electrical engineering resources.
• Participate in small to medium site construction, expansion or modification projects.
• Develop working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations applicable to area of assignment.
