Freeport-McMoRan offers a full-time paid summer internship for current students or recent graduates in Mechanical Engineering, with placements across multiple sites in North America, including Arizona.

Interns perform field work and data collection under supervision, using engineering tools, and assisting with project design, cost estimates, and documentation to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic mining environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time at a four-year university in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Recent graduate within 12 months in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Accurate and detail-oriented; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Collect data and assist with problem-solving using engineering fundamentals.
• Utilize computer programs to analyze engineering problems.
• Assist with layout and design of small/medium projects.
• Help develop specifications and evaluate equipment/material.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and assist with surveys or GPS mapping as needed.
• Support project coordination including scope, cost estimates, and information packs.
