Job summary

Ball Corporation in Westminster, CO is seeking an Engineer, Metal Innovation to advance research and development of metal beverage closures. You will manage projects, support R&D, and collaborate with design, suppliers, and internal teams to validate packaging integrity.

The role involves creating tooling, performing tests, and documenting innovations for IP, with an emphasis on cross-functional teamwork and project management in a hybrid on-site environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or metallurgy/physics.
• Minimum 2 years of engineering R&D experience.
• Experience with GD&T, metrology, and tooling.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to manage projects and follow stage-gate processes.
• Ability to work with dispersed teams and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Create packaging designs in aluminum, plastic or hybrid components and run tests.
• Develop forming tooling and sequences for final product.
• Collaborate with suppliers to transfer processes to metal/composite materials.
• Interact with internal customers to validate package integrity.
• Document innovations for IP including patents/trade secrets.
• Apply DOE, FMEA and data analysis for process optimization.
• Create engineering packages to optimize startups and minimize issues.
• Support SOPs, tooling, material specs and EHS documentation.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration via stage gates.
• Evaluate capital equipment and materials for business cases.
