Job summary

Genentech in South San Francisco is seeking a Scientist II to accelerate drug discovery through high-throughput mass spectrometry workflows and AI-enhanced analysis. You will execute LC-MS methods, automate sample prep, and apply metabolomics/lipidomics across biofluids, tissues, and cells.

You’ll document data precisely and support lab operations onsite. The role requires a strong background in bioanalysis, LC-MS platforms, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Experience executing LCMS assays for endogenous small molecules.
• Proficiency with LC-MS platforms (UHPLC, triple quad, high-res MS) and data software.
• Hands-on Generative AI tools for coding and data workflows.
• Strong collaboration and communication in multidisciplinary teams.
• Bachelor’s/Master with 3–5 years biotech/pharma experience.

Responsibilities

• Routinely perform onsite LC-MS workflow methods to acquire biomarker data.
• Use liquid handling automation for sample prep: precipitation, extractions.
• Prepare global and targeted metabolomics and lipidomics protocols.
• Execute MS data processing and statistical analyses with in-house AI/ML tools.
• Maintain quality control and accurate experimental records.
• Support lab operations and instrument maintenance.
