Job summary

Axiom Bio in San Francisco is seeking an experienced LC-MS/MS scientist to own and optimize high-throughput workflows. You will operate UHPLC-LC-MS/MS systems, develop targeted and untargeted methods, and ensure data quality across studies.

You will design reactive-metabolism and metabolomics experiments, integrate data with imaging and transcriptional readouts, and collaborate with computational teams to train AI models that interpret spectra and predict toxicity.

Qualifications

• Exceptional hands-on LC-MS/MS expertise with chromatography and fragmentation.
• Experience in reactive-metabolism, metabolomics, or proteomics experiments.
• Ability to design controls and validation studies that distinguish real signals from artifacts.
• Ability to interpret complex spectra and mixtures and assess uncertainty.
• Strong troubleshooting and maintenance skills for instruments and systems.
• Interest in teaching AI agents to reason about chemistry and automate QC.
• End-to-end ownership and rapid action from observation to resolution.

Responsibilities

• Own LC-MS/MS operations across workflows, including chromatography and detection.
• Develop and run reactive-metabolism assays with isotope-labeled controls.
• Design metabolomics experiments linking measurements with imaging and transcriptomics.
• Establish proteomics workflows from sample prep to LC-MS/MS acquisition.
• Generate high-quality reference datasets to test identification and quantification.
• Develop and qualify methods with controls, calibration, and acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate with computational scientists to train AI agents on spectra interpretation.
• Work with engineers to integrate agents into real-time QC and adaptive workflows.
• Maximize instrument uptime via preventive maintenance and service coordination.
