Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a Store Manager to plan, direct, and supervise day-to-day operations across store departments. You will mentor and coach team members, drive customer service excellence, and implement strategies to meet sales goals while ensuring quick, friendly service.

The role requires leadership in staffing, training, safety, and P&L management, with a focus on development paths and succession planning. A proactive, data-driven approach and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; also customer service and product flow experience is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate to team members in the organization in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and by addressing root cause issues.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day operations within various departments of the store.
• Serve as mentor and coach for all team members.
• Implement strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales while meeting customer needs and ensuring quick, efficient service.
• Maintain store appearance with a focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and company standards.
• Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Staffing, selection, and hiring to achieve staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning by providing career paths and development needs for team members, involved in promotion decisions.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations.
• Mentor and coach the team members to ensure service and sales goals are exceeded and the area is maintained to Meijer standards.
• Ensure the team is trained in all aspects of their jobs and have completed all required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service is delivered.
• Promote a safe work environment.
• Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
