Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking a dynamic team member to support inventory management in a fast-paced retail setting. You will sort, process, and prepare donated merchandise for display and sale, helping shoppers find quality items and ensuring shelves stay stocked.

The role emphasizes accuracy, teamwork, and strong customer service. You will participate in safety practices, document daily logs, and contribute to a positive shopping experience for our donors and customers.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instruction.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally with associates and customers.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently.

Responsibilities

• Transfers merchandise from containers to determine appropriateness for the sales floor according to guidelines.
• Stays aware of brand name, designer labels, and current styles.
• Prepare items for the sales floor and evaluate quality, pricing, value and salability.
• Counts items processed and records on the official log.
• Sorts apparel into boutique, salable, and salvage categories; places items on hangers and moves them to the floor.
• Maintains daily hanger counts and updates the Daily Hanger Report.
• Places non-sellable merchandise in the appropriate container.
• Follows safety practices and reports hazards or injuries to the manager.
• Maintains productivity quotas for pieces processed.
• Maintains a clean, neat uniform and appearance.
