Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington in Herndon, VA seeks a team member to perform inventory management and prepare donated merchandise for display and sale. You will sort items, ensure quality and pricing accuracy, and assist donors and customers in a fast-paced retail setting.

Responsibilities include transferring items for floor readiness, tracking counts, staying current with brand labels, and maintaining safety and cleanliness while meeting productivity quotas.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills are required to perform daily counts and pricing tasks.
• Ability to read, write, and understand basic instructions for processes.
• Effective verbal communication with associates and customers is essential.
• Must be able to walk, stand, and lift up to 25 lbs repeatedly during shifts.
• Six months of work experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Transfer merchandise from containers to assess eligibility for sales floor.
• Stay informed about brand names, designer labels, and current styles.
• Prepare items for the sales floor and evaluate quality, pricing, and salability.
• Count items processed and record on the official log.
• Sort apparel into boutique, salable, and salvage categories by quota.
• Hang items and transport to the sales floor with grouped items.
• Count clothing pieces and record on the Daily Hanger Report.
• Place non-sellable merchandise in appropriate containers.
• Follow safety and security practices and report hazards or injuries.
• Maintain productivity quotas and keep a clean, neat appearance.
• Assist in stocking donated merchandise and provide donor/customer service.
