Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking team members to support donation intake and inventory processing in a fast-paced retail environment. You will sort, price, and prepare merchandise for display and sale, ensuring items meet quality and salability standards while maintaining store standards and safety.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instruction.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally with associates and customers.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, bending, lifting, kneeling and climbing for prolonged periods (up to 7 hours per 8 hour shift).
• Ability to lift max of 25 lbs frequently.

Responsibilities

• Transfers merchandise from containers to determine appropriateness for the sales floor.
• Stays abreast of brand name, designer labels, current and vintage styles.
• Prepare items for the sales floor; evaluate quality, pricing, value and salability.
• Counts number of items processed and records on official log.
• Sorts apparel into boutique, salable, and salvage categories according to quota.
• Places items on hangers, hangs on rolling rack, and transports to the sales floor with similar items grouped.
• Counts pieces of clothing and records on Daily Hanger Report.
• Places non-sellable merchandise in the appropriate container.
• Follows safety and security practices reporting hazards and injuries to the manager on duty.
• Maintains required productivity quotas for pieces processed.
• Maintains a clean, neat uniform and appearance.
• Assists in the collection and stocking of donated merchandise.
• Provides excellent service to donors and retail customers.
• Performs other duties as directed.
