Job summary

Goodwill-of-Greater-Washington- is seeking a warehouse/inventory associate to sort, process, and prepare donated merchandise for display and sale in our fast-paced retail stores in Virginia. You will support the team by transferring items, staging them for the floor, and ensuring items are grouped and logged according to quotas.

The role requires basic math, clear communication, and physical stamina for lifting up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instruction.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally with associates and customers.
• Ability to walk, stand, lift, and move for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently.
• Preferred: six months of prior work experience.
• Preferred: warehouse experience.
• Preferred: pricing knowledge.
• Preferred: basic computer skills.
• Preferred: multilingual with English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Transfers merchandise from containers to determine appropriateness for the sales floor.
• Stays updated on brand names and current styles.
• Prepares items for the sales floor and evaluates quality and salability.
• Counts items and records on the official log.
• Sorts apparel into boutique, salable, and salvage categories according to quotas.
• Places items on hangers and transports them to the sales floor grouped by type.
• Counts pieces of clothing and records on the Daily Hanger Report.
• Places non-sellable merchandise in the appropriate container.
• Follows safety and security practices and reports hazards or injuries.
• Maintains productivity goals for pieces processed.
• Keeps a clean, neat uniform and appearance.
