Job summary

Cherokee Federal is seeking a Nurse Practitioner for on-site work at MEPS locations. The role focuses on comprehensive medical evaluations for military applicants, adhering to DoD and HIPAA standards, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate holds an NP degree with board certification and a current license, with MEPS experience preferred. The position offers part-time hours, a 401(k) and PTO, and work at multiple MEPS sites across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Nurse Practitioner program.
• Board certification in an NP specialty (FNP/ANP/Adult-Gerontology/ACNP).
• Current, unrestricted NP license in any U.S. state or territory.
• Minimum of 1 year post-graduate direct patient care experience.
• MEPS experience preferred; familiarity with military medical standards is a plus.
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse teams and military stakeholders.
• Must pass pre-employment qualifications for government clearance and health standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct medical histories and physical exams for military applicants per standards.
• Review documentation and test results to determine medical qualifications.
• Lead mental health and general health assessments and coordinate with specialists.
• Apply military medical accession standards for evaluations and referrals.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient privacy.
• Document histories, exams, and consultations in MHS Genesis EHR.
• Participate in peer reviews and quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure all medical records are complete and compliant.
